Subscribe to (and read) La Palma (the spanish version of The Palm Beach Post) and/ or El Sentinel (the Spanish version of the Sun-Sentinel). They are both free and come once a week.
 
If you are currently finishing Spanish II or II Honors (or if they just want a quick review before school starts)... you will want to review the grammar (verb tenses in particular) and maybe go to http://www.spanishdaddy.com/SpanishVerbTrainer.aspx to practice tenses that you know and learn others that you have not seen yet.
