3rd Annual Catholic Women of Faith, Women of Action Conference

As members of the Planning Team, Betty McKinley and I extend a personal invitation to attend, and a request to our fellow employees to help spread the word about this year’s 3^rd Annual Catholic Women of Faith, Women of Action Conference to be held on Saturday, March 3, at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles in Royal Palm Beach. To the men in the Pastoral Center, you can help by giving the information to your wives, daughters, sisters and friends. Ladies, we invite you to attend the March event and ask that you please share the information with the females in your life, too!

We also hope you will give information to your different ministry members and volunteers. If you’ve sent it once, please send again. Some time may have passed since you last sent it. Plus, the deadline to register (which is Feb. 27) will be here before you know it!

This conference will bring together women of all ages from throughout the Diocese of Palm Beach for spiritual renewal, solidarity and personal growth. We have outstanding volunteers and events planned for the day! This event is open to women of Catholic and Christian faith.

10-12 year old girls 13-16 year old girls

1:30 – 4:30 pm 1:30 – 4:30 pm

(These two programs fill up very quickly. Please make reservations early)

The Mother-and-Daughter Programs explore God’s special gift of human fertility and the beauty and wonder of God’s plan for growing up and becoming a woman. They take place in an atmosphere of love and learning and they create a foundation for communication between parent and child. Presenters are Natural Family Planning Teachers, Health Care Professionals, Specialists in Education, and other trained volunteers in Family Life Ministries.

Cost is $25 per family and reservations are required.

The Cardinal Newman Library will close at 12 Noon on Friday, February 3, 2012 for Catholic School Week Luncheon.

Rosary For Life

On Monday, January 23, 2012 at the West Palm Beach Courthouse, students from the Life Force club will join Bishop Barbarito to pray the Rosary on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. This will begin at 11 AM.

The daily mass at 6:55 AM on Monday in the school chapel will be offered for an end to abortion.

All are invited to join us for these events.

Winter Sports Week Schedule January 23-27, 2012

Monday, January 23:

Disney day - all students could dress up as any Disney character.

Tuesday, January 24:

Florida College t-shirt day - all students could wear a t-shirt or sweatshirt from any Florida college.

Wednesday, January 25:

Wacky Wednesday - Students dress up Wacky and mis-matched!

C period - Student basketball game - all students in the gym - team sign ups will be the week before winter sports week.

Thursday, January 26: (Junior Retreat)

11:00 a.m. - Senior Luncheon/BBQ - cafeteria/outside on the picnic tables.

Friday, January 27:

This schedule is based on schedule I, 2:20 dismissal

Homeroom: ($2 jean’s day, seniors do not have to pay due to their senior privilege). This will be a Blue/Gold Spirit Day and all members of Winter Sports will be permitted to wear their jerseys to school.

Pep Rally: Students will be called at 1:50 with a 2:20 p.m. dismissal

After-School Hours in the Media Center

The school's Media Center is open until 5:30 PM each day for studies, research, homework, etc. On early dismissal days, the Media Center remains open until 2:00 PM. We have been strongly encouraging our students to utilize their time wisely after school, particularly if they are waiting for later rides home from school. If your child is staying after school, please encourage him/her to take advantage of this excellent learning opportunity.
