There are exciting developments in construction and renovations to report on from Cardinal Newman High School.
Over the past ten years, Cardinal Newman High School has undergone many renovations, all generously funded by our community of parents, alumni and friends. In 2003, softball, track and lacrosse fields were created. In 2006, a new track and stadium enhancements were completed. In 2007, a classroom in the North Hall was renovated as the new “prototype” classroom. The new driveway, turnaround, and landscaping were completed in 2007. The John P. Raich Athletic Building was renovated in 2009.
More renovations are in order and currently we are planning for building activities that will take CNHS to a new level of excellence. More than renovation, we think of the process as restoration and renewal of the high school’s vision for Catholic educational excellence. The most important renovations needed are those that directly serve the academic mission of the High School, the classrooms and infrastructure of the North and South Halls. At the same time, there are urgent needs such as replacement of the roof on the cafeteria. All of these renovations require careful planning. We invite you join us in contributing to the first phase of renovations, the cafeteria, sometimes referred to as “Crusader Café”, to be completed in the summer of 2010.
While our cafeteria may not be at the center of the campus geographically, it often serves as the heart of our campus in that it is one of our most important gathering places. It is a valuable source of information, excitement and nutrition. Additions will likely include a new roof, a performing arts stage with state-of-the-art audio and visual presentation capability, new traffic flow, updated kitchen, improved lighting, and many updated amenities to provide our students and faculty an atmosphere of comfort and efficiency. We envision the cafeteria as an updated multi-purpose facility.
If you would like to discuss our planning for this the first phase of renovations, please contact Kirsten Johnson at 561-688-8085, or Steve Walsh at 561-758-8553 for more information. We welcome your support of this process.
